Showbread's next album, their first on Come&Live! Records was announced last week with a special fan-funded plan to raise $13,000 to get it made and distributed for free to the public. As of today, the album is fully funded - as the band says - "One video, a bunch of tweets and eight days later." Check out front man Josh Dies report below!...
"The album is funded! When we first started planning with Come&Live! to use Kickstarter.com as the fund-raising tool for our new album we were optimistic but cautious. We weren't sure that 90 days (the maximum length a project can run) would be enough to raise $13,000. We got together and brainstormed gifts we might offer to encourage donations and talked about how exciting it was to finally have control over how a record might look and feel, all the different editions we could release, when and how it would be released, etc.
We believed wholeheartedly that God would provide for our ministry in one way or another, and that the kickstarter project would eventually be funded. When it first began, we all sort of expected it to make its way along slowly and that it might come down to the wire and require us to pull out all the stops to raise such a tall order and make the album happen.
One video, a bunch of tweets and eight days later we have raised over $13,000.
I feel as though nothing we might say could do justice to this incredible gift we have been given in those who support us. To understate it: Thank you. Thank you to Jesus Christ, the king of kings, who has seen fit to bless us so tremendously with such kind and gracious friends who are willing to give so generously in order to keep Showbread's ministry alive and well. Thank you.
With no record label to foot the bills we are well on our way to making our best album yet and presenting it in the best formats yet (greatest of which, is a completely free version!)
Kickstarter.com projects cannot be stopped once they've started, so the fundraiser will continue to run its entire course. As previously mentioned, we have no intentions of profiting personally from this project, so all the "extra" money received will be funneled directly back into Showbread's ministry in order to make our special editions even more special, the gifts we're offering even better and provide more ways for us to bring our ministry into the world. So the gifts being offered will continue to be offered until August.
It is quite literally thanks to you that this "foolish" plan to offer an album for free in order to spread the humble, gracious and sacrificial love of Jesus Christ has become a reality. We can never thank you enough, but we're going to try by giving you the best Showbread album we're ever made (for free).
Thank you, and may Raw Rock kill you forever and ever, amen.
